FLORFENIMAX is indicated for the treatment of respiratory tract diseases in pigs caused by Pasteurella multocida, Haemophilus parasuis and Escherichia coli. For young animals from 10 weeks of age.
FLORFENIMAX should be mixed with mash and/or pelleted feed according to the usage instructions. The recommended dosage is 2 mg of active ingredient per kg of body weight, for 7 to 14 consecutive days.
200 g of FLORFENIMAX treat 4,000 kg of body weight.
Florfenicol is widely distributed throughout animal tissues, has the ability to cross the blood-brain barrier, and reaches satisfactory concentrations in sites such as the central nervous system, heart, lung, eye, saliva, liver, and spleen. Its broad distribution in these tissues may be associated with its small molecular size, low protein binding, and high liposolubility.
Florfenicol acts in a manner similar to its precursor, chloramphenicol, by inhibiting microbial protein synthesis through interaction with peptidyl transferase. Florfenicol binds to the 30S and 50S subunits of the bacterial ribosome, which prevents binding with the amino acid substrate, thereby inhibiting peptide bond formation.
